Q: Describe the learning environment.
A: Our caring staff, bright spacious classrooms and outdoor play space provide a learning environment
designed to meet a variety of young children's individual needs and interests. Classrooms are organized
into interest centers which encourage social interaction and include materials for fantasy and block
play, expressive art, sand and water play, manipulatives, puzzles and games. The extensive library of imaginative
children's literature promotes children's love of books and reading while the outdoor playground provides more active
play on challenging equipment. The daily schedule provides a balance of activity and quiet experiences.
Q: Can you tell me about your parent-toddler classes?
A: Once or twice each week for an hour and a half we offer age-appropriate activities for children
18 months to 3 years with the security of a parent or caregiver nearby. The program is held in a nursery school classroom with all the
equipment necessary to make a challenging experience for everyone. Parents and teachers agree that attendance in this program facilitates
children's transition into the preschool program.
Q: Is this a religious program?
A: Our classes are ethnically diverse with several nationalities represented in a given year. Our reform Jewish
orientation is reflected in our celebration of the Sabbath and Jewish holidays. Parents are invited to participate in events such as a
Hanukkah party or Passover Seder when children help prepare the ritual foods and the Rabbi joins us to tell the story of the holiday. All our celebrations
emphasize the historical traditions and humanistic values that are universal to all our families.
Q: How do I choose a good preschool?
A: Visit. Alone or with your child. Visit several schools more than once, if you can. Try to imagine your child in that
classroom. Observe the way the children interact with their teachers and each other. Which classroom feels the most comfortable for you and your child?
